How Over 2,000 Vehicles, Power Bikes Rode In Support Of Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat

The event was put together by Sanwo-Olu Hamzat Online & Outdoor Team (SHOOT) and BOSKOH Ladies in support of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his running mate Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

According to the organisers, ‘Lagos Ride For Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat’ was a huge success as it attracted over 50 members of the Bikers With Attitude, skaters, about 40 buses conveying supporters from across the three senatorial districts and about 2,500 private cars, sharing souvenirs of Sanwo-Olu at different bus stops as they rode. Participants from Lagos West senatorial district took off from Shoprite at Ikeja, Lagos Central took off from Lekki, while Lagos East senatorial district took off from Ikorodu. Those from Ikorodu merged with the convoy from Ikeja and they rode together till they joined participants from Lekki at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere which was the point of convergence.

The event which was compered by Ola Emdin and Sam Oladele, commenced officially with the National anthem rendered by a popular artiste, Opiano.

Speaking to newsmen at the point of convergence, the Coordinating Head of the Sanwo-Olu Hamzat Online & Outdoor Team (SHOOT) and initiator of idea, Comrade Ahmed Adeniyi Ojikutu, said that he was elated that they achieved their target of organising the biggest and most impacting political campaign in Lagos State in the present dispensation. Ojikutu explained that the idea was to engage busy entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals who may not be chanced or disposed to the idea of going to campaign grounds to drive support for Sanwo-Olu to be actively involved in the process. He urged members of the group, participants and supporters to take the move further by engaging in door-to-door and house-to-house campaigns so that Babajide Sanwo-Olu will receive overwhelming votes at the polls.

In the same vein, one of the Coordinators of the event and leader of the BOSKOH Ladies, Funke Tayo, thanked all the participants for believing in the idea and supporting in different ways. She also thanked the operatives of the Lagos State Task Force, LASTMA and other agencies, for being part of the historic event and helping to achieve the target of staging hitch free, biggest and most impacting political campaign in Lagos.

The event attracted candidates of the All Progressives Congress like Hon Desmond Olusola Elliot, representative of Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, other candidates, APC stakeholders, youth leaders across the 3 Senatorial Districts including Executive Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of different local government areas in Lagos State.

The Special Guests of Honour and the APC gubernatorial flag bearers in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, were unavoidably absent because of the emergency meeting of Governor’s Advisory Council which they had to be part of. But they were ably represented by the Director General of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group, Hon. Tayo Ayinde.

Speaking at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Hon. Tayo Ayinde thanked the group for the innovative campaign initiative and strongly believing in the vision and mission of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He promised that Sanwo-Olu will not disappoint their confidence once he emerges as the winner of the gubernatorial election in March. He however charged them to see the Presidential election and that of the National Assembly on 16th February as a mock examination which will paint a picture of the other elections.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of the endorsement flag by the group to Sanwo-Olu which was received on his behalf by the DG BOSICG, Hon Tayo Ayinde, birthday songs for Hon Desmond Olusola Elliot, dance from different groups and performances from popular artistes like Opiano, Pius Wanted, Faremi, Da Fresh Olorin, RMG All Stars, Bukola Salawa, and others.
