This weekend much hyped concert of embattled Nigeria’s topmost afro-fusion artist,Burna Boy scheduled to hold in Lagos has been cancelled.

In a statement on Thursday by Bavent Street Live, promoters of the gig tagged ‘The Burna Boy Show’, scheduled for Sunday 17 December at the Balmoral Convention Centre inside Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, fans and lovers of Burna Boy, and their corporate partners and sponsors of a shift in the date of the concert.

According to the organizers, “This is solely due to the recent allegations levelled against Burna Boy, which are as of now, unfounded and are yet to be proven. Burna Boy and his management are working assiduously within the ambits and requirements of the law to clear his name in these investigations,” the statement reads.

“He therefore needs time to come back and promises an incredible performance for his fans. For now, he needs the time and space to deal with these allegations, which have arisen at such a crucial and sensitive time when he’s working on his album and his concert.

“We ask that we respect the time he needs during this challenging period,” it added.

The organizers said a new date for the concert will be communicated in the near future, while all tickets purchased will remain valid but with the option for ticket holders to receive full refund from the ticketing partners immediately if they choose to.

“We thank all Burna Boy fans, our great partners and sponsors for your continued love, trust and support,” the organizers concluded.

Meanwhile Burna Boy, who was declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command for an alleged involvement in the robbery of his colleague, Abiye Jumbo aka Mr. 2Kay has for the first time reacted to the allegation on Twitter on Thursday.

Mr. 2Kay was attacked by a gang on October 22 in his room at Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island after a show organised by Buckwyld Media Network Limited.

This lead to an action by the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, thereafter invited Burna Boy for questioning about the robbery Mr. 2Kay.

According to the dancehall crooner, he is ready to reveal the truth about the incidence.

He said, ” I’ve tried to remain silent because as you all know, plenty talk no dey full basket but today we go use bucket pack am. Lies and politics have surrounded my name these past few weeks but today you will hear the truth and I will start from the truth behind the show ‘postponement’.”
