CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
Suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted a catholic priest has demanded a whopping sum of N10m ransom before he will be released
The Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode was kidnapped on 21 June, 2017 on his way to say Morning Mass.
He is yet to be released.
P.M. EXPRESS reports that information has it that his abductors first demanded N80 million and later slashed to N10 million.
It was gathered that after he was successfully abducted and kept in captivity, the abductors reportedly established contact and were making such demand.
It was not yet confirmed if the Catholic family has made any offer to the abductors but it has thrown the church into mourning.
The church got worried on what would be his fate if the ransom condition was not met in good time.
However, P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the church has declared fasting and prayer asking God to intervene.
“We are looking up to God for his unconditional release. Please let us ask our Mother Mary to intercede for him. We need one million Hail Marys to speed up his release in peace and perfect condition,” a source told P.M.EXPRESS.
Police sources said that the operatives has intensified efforts to ensure his release and also arrest the suspects.
Meanwhile, the efforts by the police have not paid off as the priest was still in captivity.
The arrest of the priest has shown that there were still other kidnapping gangs after the arrest of notorious kidnapper, Evans.
It show that the police needs to put more efforts to arrest those criminal elements in the society.
