Dismissed Policeman Nabbed For Extortion on Lagos Road

A 33-year old dismissed policeman, Musa Isah has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for impersonation and extortion.
The police alleged that Isah has been extorting money from truck drivers at Apapa under false pretence of discharging police duty.
However, he was arrested by the X Squad monitoring unit at Coconut area of Apapa wearing Police uniform at a point where he mounted road block and was extorting money from drivers.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when he was apprehended, he told the team that he was a serving officer but was unable to mention his division.
He was then taken to the State Command where he confessed that he was a dismissed officer but had no other work to do reason he returned to the road to obtain money from motorists.
On why he chose to extort money, Isah alleged that it was normal within the police circle.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Isah was sacked for similar offence some years back but moved to Lagos and continued illegal police work.
He was charged with impersonation and extortion under the Criminal Code and he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted Isah bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 4 May 2017.
