The Department of State Security, DSS has reportedly discovered two routes that had made it possible for kidnappers to escape with their victims without any hindrance in Lagos State.
The routes are located in two developing communities of Ijedodo and Ijagemo in Alimosho Local Government area of Lagos State.
The areas are said to be heavily guarded by armed men suspected to be members of the kidnappers ring.
A source told P.M.EXPRESS that it took a pain-staking investigation and surveillance carried out for several weeks before the DSS could discover the routes and has been unable to do anything yet because of its sensitivity.
The two communities have common boundary with Festac and Ojo towns and they are surrounded by waterways which make it easier for kidnappers to escape with their victims in speed boats.
The investigation, P.M.EXPRESS gathered followed an incessant abduction and kidnapping of recent in the Ijegun and Isheri Oshun areas without traces. This had been of serious security concern to the residents and within the security circle.
When the DSS uncovered the routes, they also discovered that the kidnappers built several tents where they stay and keep their victims for ransom.
Our correspondent who made discreet investigation in the areas also met residents who expressed surprises on how those tents built not too far from military barracks could be without the knowledge of the military officials who supposed to have surveillance of the environment and beyond that harbour their barracks.
When our correspondent visited the two communities, most of the residents approached declined to talk because they were afraid of their safety.
However, the few who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the existence of the routes but said the security agents cannot claim ignorance of the routes.
They claimed the police and other agents knew the routes but are not disposed to take action because of the sophistication of the group.
Sources within the security circles said such operation can only be carried out by the military because the group are well equipped to be easily suppressed.
