Housewife Docked For Locking-Up Teenage Maid Inside Toilet, Starved Her For 20 Days

A 34-year old housewife, Oyinyen Chuks has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court after she allegedly locked up her 14-year old house maid, Chizitere Nwadinwe inside a toilet for 20 days without food and water.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the victim was inside the toilet for 20 days between 2 May till 22 May 2017 before their co-tenants raised alarm and contacted the police.

The incident happened at 19, Ojo Street, Shasha, Alimosho, Lagos where the victim resides with the defendant’s family.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim allegedly committed an undisclosed offence against the defendant who tortured and brutalized her with several injuries on her body.

It was gathered that the defendant was not satisfied with the injuries she had already inflicted on the young girl, she decided to lock her inside the toilet as a further punishment.

According to the victim, she was locked up inside the toilet, starved and was not allow to take her bath nor change clothes for those days.

However, the information leaked to the neighbours who raised alarm and contacted the police at Shasha Division.

The defendant was arrested and detained at the police Station while the victim was taken to a General Hospital for treatment.

She was charged before Ogba Magistrates’ court with the alleged offence under the Criminal Code.

She pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde granted her bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 21 June 2017.
