Landlord’s Son Burgles Tenant’s Room To Steal

The son of a Lagos landlord, a 36-year old Sulamon Olamilekan has landed in trouble after he reportedly broke into their tenant’s apartment, stole his clothes and other home appliances.
He has since been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for burglary and stealing and remanded in prison custody.
The incident happened at Durojaiye Street in Itire area of Lagos where they reside.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the tenant, Gbenga Ajala rented the apartment and moved in with assorted designer clothing that he wore daily to work.
Olamilekan reportedly broke into the apartment and carted away the clothes, pressing iron, standing fan, other household items and went away.
He was said to have claimed that he had right to break into any of his tenant’s apartment and do whatever he liked because the house belong to his father.
When the victim returned from work and discovered that his apartment was burgled and his property stolen, he raised alarm in the compound.
One of the tenants who saw when he Olamilekan broke the apartment informed him that it was Olamilekan that did it and carted away his property.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested and taken to Itire Police Division.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt that Olamilekan informed the police that the victim was his tenant and he had right to break into his apartment to do what he liked otherwise the tenant should move out.
He was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Ojo Uagbale asked the court to grant Olamilekan bail in such a way that will enable him come to court to face trial.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O Ogbe granted him bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 2 August 2017.
