NPFL: How Kano Pillars’ Chinedu Udoji Died In Auto Crash

Former captain of Enyimba FC of Aba, Chinedu Udoji is dead. He was aged 29.
The no nonsense defender of Kano Pillars died in an auto crash within Kano metropolis in the early hours of Monday. He was the man of the match in Match Day 9 played on Sunday in one of the matches of Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, between Kano Pillars and Enyimba. The encounter ended 1-1.
Idris Malikawa, Media Officer of Kano Pillars told PM EXPRESS early today in a telephone chat that Udoji requested permission to go and visit Enyimba FC at the hotel where they were lodged in Kano after the game and he was granted as a former captain of the visiting team.
“So, he went to see his friends at the hotel where Enyimba lodged within Kano metropolis and he was there till late in the night when he decided to come back to the camp of Kano Pillars.
“Sadly, the former FC Abuja defender never made it back alive as he was involved in an accident that claimed his life. He was driving alone in the car when the fatal accident occurred in the early hours of today, ” he said.
As at the time of filing this report , his body has been removed from the car and the management of Kano Pillars is waiting to collect the death certificate of the late player after his body was deposited at the mortuary of the hospital.
In a tweet after hearing of the sad event, Kano Pillars said: “Chinedu Udoji was involved in a car accident yesterday after visiting his former team mates at Enyimba. This tragic accident happened along Club Road in Kano. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans, and football lovers all across the country.”
Also Enyimba FC tweeted: “We are distraught at the news of the passing of club legend and former captain, Chinedu Udoji. Our commiserations are with his family at this time. #RIPUdoji #AnElephantSleeps #CaptainLeaderLegend.”
