Come Friday, July 7, Sahara Group will premiere “Hanatu”, a short film by acclaimed filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan.
The new short film inspired by Sahara Foundation will be shown to select audience at Terra Kulture, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
“Hanatu” tells the story of how a youth corps member named Preye helps a little girl in a village, where he is posted, to rediscover her confidence and hope for a bright future when he helps her secure a prosthetic leg through the efforts of the Sahara Foundation, following a dastardly accident which resulted in her father losing his life and she losing her leg.
The movie, featuring among others Afolayan’s brother, Gabriel, was shot in Auchi, Edo State and Lagos.
A statement from Sahara Group explaining the rationale behind the short film said “Hanatu epitomises Sahara’s commitment to sustainability, responsibility and ‘extrapreneurship’. It is an expression of who we are and what we do: providing opportunities for aspirations to blossom into fruition. It is the mantra of hope; the demystification of impossibilities; a clarion call for sustainable development across climes and times.”
