Video: Falz Raises Dust For Urging Singers To Stop Hailing ‘Yahoo Boys’

Posted on June 23, 2017

Falz the Bad Guy has stirred some controversy after his advice to fellow singers, to stop praising Yahoo Boys, a parlance for internet fraudsters.

Falz spoke in an interview on Hip TV, that hailing the Yahoo Boys amounts to glorification of what is wrong in society and urged artists to desist from doing so for the sake of the future.

In his interview, Falz made mention of no one, but he was soon pitted against 9Ice, an older musician, with commentators divided on the merit of his advice.

Falz earlier warned artistes against glorifying fraudsters, adding that songs should speak against not in support of ills of the society.

“As an entertainer, sing about something that can help our life, paint a picture, tell a story, don’t glorify fraudulent behaviour; it’s not good.

“You are a role model to the younger ones and you are hailing fraudsters, you are making the younger ones feel it is good to do it. Stop it! It is destroying our future,” he said.

But in apparent reaction, 9ice said he only urged individuals to go about their daily duties and earned their pay.

“It’s not about promoting fraud so to speak, It’s about someone who wakes up in the morning and needs to go and earn a living. It’s not negative.

“It’s positive, you just have to be in that realm to understand what the song is all about,” the singer told HipTv.
