Woman Arrested Over Sale of Police Land In Lagos

A 60-year old woman, Mrs Helen Nnadozie has been arrested and charged before Magistrate’s court sitting in Isolo for allegedly defrauding another woman, Chioma Okoroji under false pretence of securing a land for shop at Idimu Police Barrack in Lagos.
The suspect allegedly obtained N320,000 from the victim for sale of the land and build shop for her at the Barrack.
She reportedly took her to the Barrack located at Car Wash Bus Stop along Egbeda-Idimu Road and pointed the land and asked her to pay the money so that she will build a shop for her.
Helen reportedly went to the Chioma’s house at Solomon Okonkwo Street, Ile-Epo in Idimu area and collected the money with a promise to build the shop on the land.
After waiting for her on the agreed date, Helen started dodging Chioma and even threatening to deal with her.
Chioma then went to the land within the Barrack to build the shop but was prevented.
She then reported the matter to the police at Idimu who trailed Helen for sometime and eventually arrested her.
At the station, the suspect admitted that she collected the money and said she used the money to solve other pressing problem.
She was charged to court with fraud and stealing under the Criminal Code.
She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail.
The matter was adjourned till 5 November 2016.
