Woman In Soup After Standing Surety In Court For Runaway Lover

A 45-year old woman Adijat Folakemi Shittu has landed in trouble after she stood as surety in court for her lover, Aderemi Adetola in a criminal matter and the man ran away.
Adetola was arrested and charged to court over his involvement in a N1.9million bank fraud.
He was granted bail and remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
Our correspondent gathered that Adetola persuaded Adijat to stand as surety for him which she did and he was released from custody.
P.M. EXPRESS gathered that immediately Adetola was released from custody, he quickly packed some of his belongings and fled to an unknown place.
When the matter came up in court for several times and Adetola failed to show appearance, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Adedayo issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Adijat.
On Friday, she was arrested and charged to court.
When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty but was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, Adijat was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 13 March 2017.
While being taken to prison custody, the lady was in shock over the turn around of the situation as she explained that she stood as surety for Adetola because he sworn to her that he did not commit the alleged offence.
She said with his running away from facing the trial showed that he actually committed the crime that brought him to court.
