Residents of Ijegun community in Lagos have protested the return of the 12 under-aged sex workers arrested by the police at Ikotun division over the weekend to the same Eddilite Hotel from where they were rescued.

The victims were released to the hotel manager who was also arrested alongside the girls. They are all back to the hotel located at Yaya Hassan Street off Pipeline, Ijegun, Lagos to continue their illicit business.

According to the protesting residents, the police claimed that the area where the hotel was located did not fall within the jurisdiction of Ikotun division as such they do not have right to detain the girls for the alleged offence, and thus they had to be released following a directive by their superior officer.
P.M EXPRESS had broken the news of the rescued 12 Under-aged Sex Workers in  the Lagos Hotel.

The police last Friday raided the popular hotel and rescued the girls, whose ages range from 12 to 15, used for prostitution.

During the sting operation that lasted for several hours, 12 of the girls  were rescued and taken to the station.

It was gathered that the location of the hotel falls under Isheri Oshun division. But the residents said the issue of jurisdiction was not enough to release the manager and the under-aged girls to continue their illegal business in the area.
The residents argued that despite the place is under Isheri Oshun division, the authority should have directed the matter to be transferred to the division or Area M Command, Idimu.

They expressed worries over the influence those under-aged girls might have on their innocent children living in the area.
