The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, has arraigned 13 men before Ogba Magistrate Court over charges bordering on conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempted murder.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the defendants, aged between 25 and 57, were, Semiu Toheeb, Idowu Aina, Morufu Sholanke, Adebayo Abiodun, Bola Orimolade, Said Adebiyi, Jimoh Akeem, Tobi Bamidele, Azeez Aliu, Adebiyi Jamiu, Raheem Fatai, Aigbe Augustine, and Adeogun Bamidele.
According to the Police the incident happened on 27th April, 2026, in the Ojo area of Lagos.
The Prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, told the court that the defendants and others now at large conspired to commit felony, specifically conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The prosecution further alleged that the group assembled in a manner capable of causing chaos within Ojo and its environs. This act, the state argued, constitutes an offence punishable under Section 44 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Police said the gathering created panic among residents and disrupted normal activities in the area.
The  Court was informed that the most serious charge relates to the alleged attempt on the lives of three victims, Oriyomi Solomon, Oriyomi Olabisi, and Giwa Gafaru.
The prosecution stated that the defendants inflicted grievous wounds and injuries on the heads of the victims using cutlasses, broken bottles, and knives.
The alleged offence is punishable under Section 230(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which deals with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.
The victims were said to have sustained significant head injuries during the incident and were taken for medical treatment.
However, the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor asked to Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, ordered their remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
