CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
A 47-year old Madam Betty Ifeoma has landed in trouble after she reportedly battered and detained her house maid inside a room for five days.
The incident happened at Adediran Street, Ajao Estate in the Anthony Village area of Lagos where they resided.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim, Nkechi Oseh suffered her fate for committing an undisclosed offence against the madam. It was learnt that the suspect therefore maltreated, inflicted injury and locked her up in a room for five days with food and water.
However, rescue came the way of the maid when their neighbours who knew what happened contacted the police. The police then went there and rescued the girl.
She was taken to the police station and her madam was arrested and detained. She was thereafter charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
