P.M.EXPRESS has confirmed that the 15 suspects, who remanded at Ikotun Police Division before the #EndSARS protest, were actually moved to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
This is contrary to the rumour going on in the area that the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Adagba Johnson, shot and killed all the suspects inside the cell during the recent #EndSARS protest which later turned to violent.
The rumour went on and spread like wild fire, which ignited the burning of the Police Station and looting by angry youths, which later took place in the area.
Hence P.M.EXPRESS correspondent went into investigation to find out if the suspects were actually killed inside cell by the Police.
Our findings revealed that prior to the the violence, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had directed all the Divisions to move suspects in their custody to SCIID Panti, Yaba, Lagos, sensing that they might be forcefully released from cells by the angry mob.
The DPOs at the the various Divisions promptly obeyed the order of the the Commissioner of the Police including the suspects at Ikotun Division.
It was gathered that while the suspects were transferred to the SCIID Panti, tests were conducted on them to ascertain their status over Covid-19 before they were finally moved to Kirikiri pending when their trial will continue at the various Courts or release from custody.
This was confirmed by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed that the suspects were moved to Panti and from there to Kirikiri and there was no such ex-judicial killing at Ikotun Division.
Our correspondent also confirmed that some of the suspects were seen at the Ogba Magistrates Court, where they are undergoing trial on the the matters that brought them to the Court while the families of the suspects were seen trying to perfect their bail conditions.
