A 19-year-old man, Chijioke Elvis, has been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos over allegations of defilement and sexual assault involving a 10-year-old girl inside a public toilet.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 22nd March, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., at Unity Estate, Badore Road, Ajah, Lagos.
According to the Police,  the defendant,  Elvis defiled the victim by having sexual intercourse with her.
The Commissioner of Police charged Elvis on two counts contrary to Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
In Count one, it was alleged that on 22nd March, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., at Unity Estate, Badore Road, Ajah, Lagos, Elvis defiled the victim by having sexual intercourse with her.
Count two alleged that on the same, date, time, and place, he penetrated the anus of the minor with his fingers.
A sworn affidavit in support of a remand order, deposed by W/Insp. Raimi Idowu of the Gender Section, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, stated that the case was transferred from Langbasa Division to the Gender Unit on March 31, 2026.
The affidavit said the report was made by the victim’s mother alleging that Elvis lured her daughter into a public toilet in the neighborhood and committed the offences.
Thus, he was arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Law of the State.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie  asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
