2 Arrested For Borrowing N600k To Play Lottery

Two suspects, Ayotoro Solomon, 24 and Williams Peter, 38 have landed in trouble after they obtained a credit of N600,000 from a lottery company to try their luck in lottery games in the same company and eventually failed to win.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Consul Games Limited located at Olowu Street in Ikeja, Lagos where the office was located.

It was gathered that the management of the company offered the suspects credit facility for them to use to play the lottery games. The suspects were said to have obtained the credits and invested all in the lottery with the hope that they will win something beyond the money they had invested.

However, when results came out, it happened that they lost everything and the company asked for their money but they were unable to pay. They were then handed over to the police at Ikeja Division for obtaining money under false pretence and detained at the police station.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that when they got to the police station, the suspects told the police that the management lent the money to them and promised them that they will win at least some money that will cover the amount they borrowed. However, when the result of the came out and they lost everything, they started demanding for their money which they knew that they cannot provide.

The police found them culpable and charged them before Ikeja Magistrates court for fraud.

They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuerhi, did not oppose their bail but asked the court to give a short adjournment for trial.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.Sule-Amzat granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 10 July, 2018.
