CYRIACUS IZUEKWE
Two brothers of the same parents, Sunday Isaac and Lucky Isaac, will have to die by hanging for their involvement in armed robbery.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that this was the judgement of the Ondo State High Court siting before Justice Yemi Fasanmi.
The Court also sentenced another accused person, Ovie Nana Friday, to death for the same offence.
The reports said that the condemned persons sometime in 2014, armed with dangerous weapons, conspired together to rob the residents of the community of their valuables, including mobile phones and cash.
However, in the course of their operation, they were arrested and subsequently arraigned. During the trial, the prosecutors led by Chief Legal Officer in the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Olusegun Akeredolu, called four witnesses and tendered confessional statements of the defendants which were admitted by the Court as exhibits.
The counsel to the defendants Mr. Samson Iluyemi, also gave evidence for them but did not tender any evidential exhibit.
While delivering the judgement, the trial judge, Justice Yemi Fasanmi, said the prosecution has proven its case beyond all reasonable doubts and found the defendants guilty as charged.
They were therefore, sentenced to death by hanging and were taken into prison custody pending when they will be executed in line with the judgement.
