Two friends, Darlington Ezenwa and his friend identified as Ebuka, have landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly gang-raping a 13-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police started manhunt for them and eventually arrested Ezenwa while his friend, Ebuka escaped and has been on run over the alleged dastardly act.
The incident happened on 8th April, 2023, at Vitus Okpala Street, Ajao Estate, where they reside.
The 26-year old Ezenwa has been charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and defilement under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
According to the Police, the defendants lured the girl into an apartment and forcefully engaged her into the act one after the other. And having satisfied themselves, they allowed her to go.
The girl went home and revealed what happened to her and the matter was reported to the Police. Ezenwa was then arrested and charged before the Court while the Police are making efforts to arrest Ebuka, who is now at large.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre, Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice. She directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 6th June, 2023, for report of the DPP’s legal advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
