Two married women, Mrs. Rejoice Awele and her friend, Mrs. Angela Onwuatu, jettisoned decency and engaged in a public fight inside the church in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that in the process Mrs. Rejoice brought out a sharp razor blade, inflicted injuries on Angela’s body, she bled profusely and was rushed to the hospital.

The incident happened at Kokori Street off Governor’s Road in Ikotun area where they reside and attend the same church.

Residents and members of their church wondered what would have made Mrs. Rejoice to have prepared for the attack and armed herself with razor blade despite the fact that they were known sisters in the church.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Rejoice who had two kids had accommodation problem and contacted Mrs. Angela who has three children. She considered her situation and gave her an apartment in her compound as they attended the same church.
However, when Rejoice moved into the house with her family, she started having issues with Angela and they became rivals. They were said to always have quarrels in the compound while Rejoice was not paying a dime as rent.
On the day they fought publicly in the presence of the members of their church and residents, it was learnt that Rejoice had planned to give her marks with the razor blade and she actually achieved her aim as she celebrated it.
The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun Division and Rejoice was arrested. After interrogation, she was later charged before Ejigbo Magistrates Court for assault on Angela.

When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon, told the Court that since she pleaded not guilty, a date should be fixed for hearing for the police to prove the matter.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 29th April, 2019.
