Two men, Onyeka Okechukwu, 26 and Akeem Adebayo, 62, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring and stealing one Ford bus parked on the street worth N5m belonging to Chidi Isibor and bolting away.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd June, 2025, at Julius Showumi Street, Shogunle, Oshodi, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspects went where the bus with Reg. No. EPL 206 EA was parked at Showumi Street, Shogunle, stole it and escaped.
However, information leaked that suspects were behind the missing vehicle and the matter was reported to the Police at Shogunle Division. They were then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the missing vehicle.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT 1:”That you, Onyeka Okechukwu ‘M’ and Akeem Adebayo ‘m’ on 3rd June, 2025 at Julius Showumi Street, Shogunle Oshodi, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to steal one Ford bus and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Onyeka Okechukwu ‘M’ and Akeem Adebayo ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal on Ford bus with Reg No. EPL 206 EA, from where it was parked at Showumi Street, Shogunle Oshodi, Lagos, valued the sum of five Million only (N5,000.000.00) property of one Chidi Isibor ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 278 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
