2 Men Docked For Stealing Transport Company’s N56.4m Worth Of Diesel

Two men, Ibrahim Abdullahi, 27 and Lawal Abdullahi, 37, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 56, 000 litres of diesel worth over N56.4m belonging to a transportation company, known as Welfare Transport Limited. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at PPL, Alaba Rago area of Ojo, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspects had on 17th July, 2024, conspired and stole the products without the knowledge of the members of the management, who later discovered that the product was missing.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ojo Division; they were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

 

After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: That you, Ibrahim Abdullahi ‘M’, Lawal Abdullahi ‘M’ and others now at large, on the 17th day of July 2024 at about 0330hrs at PPL Alaba Rago, Ojo, in Ojo Magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II: That you, Ibrahim Abdullahi ‘M’, Lawal Abdullahi ‘M’ and others now at large, on the same day, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal Fifty Thousand Liters of Diesel Valued N56,450.000.00 (Fifty-Six Million Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) property of Welfare Transport Limited represented by Muhammed Musa “M and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, they pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.M. Alade, granted them bail in the sum of N1.5m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 28th August, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
