Two suspected criminals living in a notorious jungle, known as Bola, in Ijegun area of Lagos State, have been arrested for allegedly vandalizing a house, carting away electrical wires used to connect light and other properties and selling them as scraps.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects,  Biliaminu Ibrahim, 22 and Usman Isa, 24, and others at large broke into the house at Ayodele Olaoye Street in Ijegun, and stole all the electrical wires used to connect light in the house including other properties worth N4.5m and sold them as scraps.

According to the Police, the suspects and others at large went to the house belonging to Olupojo Adenike when there was nobody in the house.

When the owner of the house, Adenike, returned and saw what happened, it was reported to the Police at the Commissioner of Police Police Tactical team Area M Annex. They moved into action and information leaked that it was the suspected criminals living at Bola that did it.

The Police invaded the place and recovered some of the stolen items from the suspects. They were arrested immediately and taken to the Police station for interrogation over the stolen items.

After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing.

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 28th June, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
