2 Men Gang Rape Girl, 12, Inside Catholic Church

Two suspects, Mr. Emmanuel Agbo, 25 and Mr. John Amaechi, 35, have been arrested for allegedly desecrating the house of God by gang raping a 12-year old girl inside a Catholic Church premises in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in the evening at the Saint Martin’s Catholic Church, Shogunle, Lagos, where the victim was allegedly gang-raped in turns.

The suspects, who were said to be members of the church had tricked the victim, took her to a dark corner within the church premises, removed her pant and engaged her in sex romp in turns. It was gathered that the dastardly act took place on two different occasions between April 10 and April 30, 2018, at the church and they warned her not to tell anyone what happened.

Both the suspects and the victim had pretended that they went for church activities and thereafter they engaged in the act. It was gathered that after the romp at the church premises, one of the suspects, Mr. Amaechi later moved the romp to their area at Majekodunmi Street in Shogunle, where he alone abused her and they he were eventually caught.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that it was when they were caught that the victim opened up and revealed that they had been engaging in the act inside the church with the second suspect, Mr. Agbo.

The matter was reported to the gender section at the State Command, Ikeja, Lagos, and the suspects were arrested and detained for interrogations. P.M.EXPRESS scooped that during the investigations, they initially denied but the victim was brought before them, she confronted them and they eventually confessed.

They were charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for defiling the victim and desecrating the church.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John informed the court that the victim was subjected to gang rape by the defendant at the church premises. He asked the court to use discretion to determine whether to grant them bail or not because it was a serious crime.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter E. Nwaka did not take their plea, he rather ordered them to be remanded in prison custody without the option of granting them bail.
The court ordered that their file should be duplicated and sent to DPP for advice.
The matter was further adjourned till 27 June, 2018 for report of DPP advice to be available.
