A 7-Month old baby has allegedly been defiled in Lagos State by two men, who conspired and penetrated her one after the other with fingers in order to satisfy their sexual desire.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Railway line, Abbattoir area of Agege, where they reside.
The two men, Yinusa Mohammed, 25 and Aminu Usman, 27, have been arrested.
The motive behind their action to have chosen a baby to satisfy their sexual desire was not disclosed by the Police, who alleged the suspects to have gone where the baby’s mother kept her, removed her pants and penetrated her.
However, while they were in the act, they were caught and the baby’s mother was alerted. She raised an alarm which attracted other neighbours, who expressed shock over what happened.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and they were arrested. They were later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the alleged rape.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, when they were arraigned, the Court did not take their plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered their remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to DPP while the matter was adjourned till 5th May, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
