It appears that the vandalisation of NNPC pipelines has gone up following the arrest of suspects with loads of petroleum products. Just barely one week after pipeline vandals broke NNPC pipes in Ejigbo area of Lagos, another pipeline has been busted and two suspects arrested in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects Tunde Ramoni, 45 and Yinka Olufowobi, have been nabbed by the Police.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, he said that men of Ogun State Police Command on Thursday 30th May, 2019, arrested two suspected pipeline vandals Tunde Ramoni, 45, and Yinka Olufowobi, 33.
The Police spokesman said that the two suspects were arrested by policemen attached to Redeemed Camp Divisional Police Headquarters who were on routine patrol along Simawa. The suspects were said to have been sighted in a blue Toyota Camry car with registration number RC 862 AAA loaded with petroleum product in sacks.
Oyeyemi said that upon sighting the Police, they made attempt to escape but they were given a hot chase and apprehended.
On interrogation, the two suspects confessed that they were coming from Oloparun Village via Ogijo where they used to get the product from vandalized pipelines in the area in collaboration with their other accomplices living in Ilara area of Ogijo.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, C P Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects and exhibit to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigation with the view of apprehending their other accomplices.
The suspects will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
