2 Suspected Armed Robbers With Navy Uniform Arrested During Operation At Oshodi Market Complex

Two suspected armed robbers with the Nigerian Navy uniform, Sulaimon Mohammed,27 and Adam Mohammed, 26, have been arrested after they invaded Olota market complex in Oshodi area of Lagos and robbed a female victim, Olukemi Olofin, of the sum of N500,000 with a poisonous jack knife.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 6th January, 2026, at about 1700hrs at No. 4 and 5, Anjorin Street, Olota complex, Oshodi, Lagos.
However, they were apprehended and handed over to the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team of the State Command for armed robbery.
According to the Police, while the suspects were with the jack Knife, one of the suspects, Sulaimon Mohammed, was wearing Nigerian Navy uniform with a forged Navy identity card during the operation.
During the interrogation, the Police discovered that they were suspected armed robbers and the second suspect, Mohammed, was not a Naval officer as he claimed.
They were found culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy, armed robbery and impersonation, which attracts several years of imprisonment under the Criminal Law of the State.
The charges read:
“That you, Sulaimon Mohammed ‘m’, Adam Mohammed ‘m’ and others at large, on the 6th day of January, 2026 at about 1700hrs at No. 4 and 5, Anjorin street Olota complex, Oshodi Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Sulaimon Mohammed ‘m’, Adam Mohammed ‘m’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, whilst you armed yourselves with one poisonous jack knife, did rob the sum of five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000.00), property of Olukemi Olofin ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 6 and punishable under Section 297(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
COUNT III: “That you, Sulaimon Mohammed ‘m’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: impersonation and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
COUNT IV:” That you, Sulaimon Mohammed ‘m’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District,  impersonated yourselves to be members of the Nigerian Navy and after being invesigated by Nigerian Navy Beacroft Apapa, you were found to be fake Nigerian Naval officers as you claimed and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 77(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,”
COUNT V:”That you, Sulaimon Mohammed ‘m’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, knowingly forged one Nigerian Navy military identity card without lawful authority with Intent that on presentation it purported to be acted upon as genuine and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 363(1)(a)(b), (2)(c) and punishable under Section 365(1)(2)(a&b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The Court did not take their plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered their remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
