Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested two teenagers, Alimi Abdulrazak, and Eniola Samsondeen, for allegedly causing panic by displaying arms in public to cause violence.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Agbotikuyo bus stop in Orile, Agege area of Lagos.
The Police did not state the motive behind their action, which threw the entire area into panic before the Police at Elele Division were contacted and they moved into action. The operatives eventually arrested the suspects and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
The Police also recovered axes and bottles, which they displayed and used it to cause panic in the area as exhibits and they admitted to have used while being interrogated.
The Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
Count 1: That you, Alimi Abdulrazak and Eniola Samsondeen, on 06/10/2024 at about 02:20AM at Agbotikuyo Bus-Stop Orile, Agege, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conspire together to commit misdemeonour to wit unlawful display of arms in public and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 412 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria, 2015.”
Count II: That you, Alimi Abdulrazak and Eniola Samson Deen, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did unlawful display axes and bottles and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 51 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria, 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
