Police operatives from Ikotun Division in Lagos have arrested two women, Omololu Felicia and Kayode Opeyemi, for assault by forcefully stripping a lady, Quadiri Mariam, naked in public.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oke Amu Street, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police did not state why she was treated in such manner by the suspects, who reportedly ensured that she was disgraced in public.
The suspects and others now at large, reportedly targeted the victim, Quadiri Mariam, on the way, grabbed her, tore her clothes and left her naked with only her pant on.
While the suspects made efforts to remove her bra and pant so that she will be completely naked, she was eventually rescued and taken to a hidden place but by then those present had seen her nakedness.
The assault was reported to the Police and the two suspects, Felicia and Opeyemi were arrested.
After interrogation and having been found culpable by the Police, they were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conspiracy and assault.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then informed the Court to give a date for hearing since the defendants had pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
They were remanded in Correctional Centre pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd February, 2021.
