The Deputy Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku, has identified hard work and intense prayers as the key to a successful and fulfilling year 2021.

His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, made this known in interactions with youth groups who had paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Amaimo, Ikeduru, Imo State.

X-raying the outgoing year, His Excellency, Prof Placid Njoku noted that the events of 2020 will remain indelible in the history of mankind as the Covid-19 scourge ravaged the world in a most frightening and clinical manner, killing hundreds of thousands across the globe and infecting millions. The pandemic would go on to destroy global trade and commerce thereby shrinking the global economy in an unprecedented and devastating manner. The twin incapacitation of the disease scourge and crippled global economy all over the world impacted governance and every facet of life in Nigeria even as the #ENDSARS protests rocked the nation at a time Nigerians were beginning to come out of the pandemic shutdown.
The #ENDSARS protests crippled an already impoverished economy and while their was legitimacy in the initial stance of the youth, the eventual hijack of the protests by hoodlums dealt it a fatal blow. It is most scary now that the end of the protests and the rise of hope for us all is being blighted by another wave of the Covid-19 scourge.

To effectively combat the crippling challenges faced by the nation and indeed, the world in the year 2020, the Imo State Deputy Governor insists that Nigerians must imbibe the spirit of hard work, and intense prayers to God to make the new year a much better year for everyone.
The Deputy Governor remarked that hard work has no substitute just as prayers is as necessary as the air we breathe. Stressing that the combination of both is an absolute guarantee for a successful 2021.

President of the Odinnma Ndigbo initiative, U. O. Udo, who spoke for all the groups, praised the former Vice Chancellor turned Deputy Governor for his history of mentorship and foresight, and pledged that the youth of Imo State will imbibe the Clarion call to hard work and prayers by His Excellency, the Deputy Governor.
