As the political landscape in Imo heats up ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Mazi Organization has formally announced that its principal, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu), will contest both the Owerri Zone Senate seat and the Imo State governorship in 2027, unveiling what it described as a well-structured political roadmap to Douglas House.

The announcement was made during a press conference convened to clarify the group’s political direction ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. The address, delivered by the Director General of the organization, Chief Henry Onwukwe, comes amid increasing public interest and speculation over Amadi’s political trajectory.

According to the statement, the decision followed extensive consultations, broad stakeholder engagement, and a strategic evaluation of Imo State’s political terrain, particularly its off-cycle governorship election, which takes place months after the general elections.

The organization stressed that the dual ambition is deliberate and calculated, rooted in “clarity of purpose, political realism, and a deep commitment” to building a strong and winning political movement across the state.

Explaining the rationale behind the approach, the group noted that contesting the Senate seat first would enable deeper grassroots mobilization across all local government areas, ensuring that its message resonates at the ward level before the governorship election.

Onwukwe stated that the senatorial bid would provide immediate leadership to party supporters, strengthen internal cohesion, and establish a federal platform for advocating the interests of Imo people while building momentum for the governorship race.

The statement also underscored the strategic importance of the Owerri Zone Senate seat, describing it as a key political anchor that confers statewide visibility, credibility, and access to influential networks that shape electoral outcomes.

It further called for unity and collective action, urging party faithful and Ndi Imo to embrace the dual-path strategy as a continuous political journey, while expressing confidence that the approach would translate into success at the polls in 2027.
