3 Company’s Workers Arraigned For Stealing 123 Phones Worth Over N14m

Three company’s workers, Sunday Onaji, 28, Mohammed Usman, 20 and Kazeem Saliu, 38, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 123 pieces of phones worth over N14m belonging to Best Service Raya Company. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 24th May, 2025, at the company’s office located at Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspects conspired and stole the items with the intention that the company will not know. However, the alleged theft got exposed after the company carried out an internal audit and discovered that the items were missing.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Ikeja Division. The suspects were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the missing items.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Sunday Onaji ‘m’, Mohammed Usman ‘m’, Kazeem Saliu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 24th day of May 2025 at about 2300hrs, at Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja, Lagos, did conspire with others now at large to commit felony to wit stealing and obtaining money by false pretence and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Sunday Onaji ‘m’, Mohammed Usman ‘m’,Kazeem Saliu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal (123) one hundred and twenty three pieces of mobile phones value N14,125,000.00 properties of Best Service Raya Company and thereby committed an offence contrary to the provisions of Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

However,  they pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.O.Tanimola, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
