It was a sad end after three suspected highway traffic robbers met their waterloo and got arrested by Police operatives during an operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police in Ogun State arrested the three suspected highway robbers alleged to have been terrorising Odogbolu/Ijebu-Ode Expressway while they had positioned to rob on the expressway as Police operatives were on patrol in the area.
This was disclosed by the Ogun State Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
He said that the suspects were Johnson Afokolu, Victor Michael and Jacob Usang and they were arrested on Saturday morning by a Police patrol team that saw them allegedly taking position to attack early travellers. The suspects were said to have attempted to flee when they sighted the policemen but were chased and apprehended.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that a toy gun, knife, phones, substances suspected to be marijuana, military accoutrements and torches were recovered from them.
“They confessed to have been responsible for most armed robbery cases in the area and that other members of the gang usually joined them on special operations” the Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi said.
He said that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation while massive manhunt for their accomplices has commenced.
