It was a sad end for three notorious armed robbers, Azeez Jimoh, Oluwasegun Ajayi and Waisu Adegbola, who had been terrorizing innocent people within Alimosho Local Government in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the trio have been arrested by the Police operatives from the Lagos State Police Command during an operation within Meiran area of Lagos while robbing pedestrians of their valuables.
This was disclosed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed that the suspects were in Police custody undergoing interrogation over their criminal conduct.
SP Hundeyin stated that the Police arrested the suspects on Friday, 16th December, 2022, when they fled upon spotting the Policemen, who then gave the robbers a hot chase.
The Police first apprehended one of them, Azeez Jimoh and recovered a locally made pistol, unexpended cartridges, stolen items from him.
During investigation, Jimoh made some confessional statements, which led to the arrest of the two other fleeing members of the gang, Wasiu Adegbola and Oluwaseun Ajayi.
“On 15/12/2022 at about 2350hrs, three men using a motorcycle, while robbing pedestrians, spotted Meiran Division patrol officers and took to their heels,” the statement read.
“After a hot pursuit, Azeez Jimoh was arrested with a locally made pistol, three unexpended cartridges, eight stolen phones, a wristwatch, a security chain and padlock and N93,200 cash. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing two.”
“Investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects: Wasiu Adegbola aged 22 and Oluwaseun Ajayi aged 30. Prosecution follows at the conclusion of investigation,” he added.
The suspects may likely be charged for armed robbery and illegal possession of arms, which attracts several years of imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty.
