Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested three suspected members of a drug syndicate — Chinonso Enekwe, 26; Chukwuemeka Oforjebe, 38; and Ohagiagen Friday, 41 — with a substance suspected to be cocaine at the Young Shall Grow Motors park.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 18th April, 2026, at the Young Shall Grow Transport terminal, Mazamaza, Lagos.
The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence received by the Police. The tip-off led to a swift operation that resulted in their arrest and the recovery of the substance, which was registered as an exhibit for investigation.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found the suspects culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read in part:
Count I: “That you, Chinonso Enekwe ‘m’, Chukwuemeka Oforjebe ‘m’, Ohagiagen Friday ‘m’, and others at large, committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
Count II: “That you, Chinonso Enekwe ‘m’, Chukwuemeka Oforjebe ‘m’, Ohagiagen Friday ‘m’, and others still at large, on or about the 18th day of April 2026, at Young Shall Grow Transport, Mazamaza, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did have in your possession powdery substances suspected to be Cocaine or LSD, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, LFN 2004.”
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the court to fix a date for hearing since the defendants pleaded not guilty, to enable the Police to prove the allegations against them.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted each defendant bail with two sureties each. The sureties must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment, with their addresses to be verified by the Court.
The Court noted that the alleged substance has been sent for forensic analysis to confirm its nature, while the quantity recovered is estimated to have a street value running into millions of Naira.
The matter was adjourned for mention to allow the prosecution to present its witnesses. Meanwhile, the defendants were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos, pending the perfection of their bail conditions.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to clamp down on drug trafficking networks operating through motor parks and other public spaces, warning that anyone caught will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
