The police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of one Nurudeen Lanlese during the APC Local Government Congress in Agege, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were Bosun Adigun, Sabitu Kaorudeen and Semiu Ogunbono.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the State Police Command.
The police boss said that on 12th May, 2018, during the party’s congress at Central Community Primary School, Oniwaya in Agege, Lagos, the election was fictionalised which led to a protest. He said that some aggrieved ward members protested their non inclusion in the electoral process.
During the ensuring fracas, gun shots were heard from a distance and when the noise died down, 40-year old Nurudeen Lanlese was found in a pool of blood. He was hurriedly rushed to a hospital but before he would be attended, he died and doctors only certified him dead.
CP Edgal said that during the investigations into the matter, the suspects were found culpable, they were arrested and detained at the State Command. He said that the suspects will be charged to court for the murder of the victim after the conclusion of investigations.
It was gathered that trouble started after one of the suspects, Mr. Bosun Adigun who was originally listed as one of the delegates in the congress was removed.
When he got to the centre, it was discovered that his name was removed and replaced with another which started the crisis.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the CP frowned at the way the members of the political parties were hitting up the polity and urged the political leaders to talk to themselves and their members to shun any form of violence during the elections.
