Police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos Police Command have arrested three suspected vandals for allegedly cutting off rails on Third Mainland Bridge for sale as scraps before they were caught.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects,  Faruk Abubakar, 32, Yusuph Balogun, 36 and Timothy Dauda, 49, were apprehended at Tom Jones area of Lagos Island while they were escaping with the stolen items with a mini bus, two carts and bridge railings.
The Police recovered the items including the mini bus as exhibits and kept them in Police custody.
The Police alleged that vandals were arrested at about 0245hrs on Saturday during RRS operatives’ routine patrol of the area. When they sighted the Police, they fled and abandoned a Suzuki mini bus, popularly called korope, with registration number BDG 315 YA.
Inside the bus were two carts, bars of aluminum railings suspected to have been cut from the Third Mainland Bridge, a hammer and a hand saw among others also as exhibits.
The arrest comes on the heels of other recent and similar arrests of vandals made by the CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi-led RRS operatives, which seems to have become constant over a period in the State.
Similarly, the vandals had gone to Muritala Muhammad International Airport bridge and cut off aluminium rails and while they were escaping, they were caught by the Police.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that all suspects have since been charged to Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
