The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs. Omobolanle Ogunmola, has disclosed that about 3000 staff from all the Local Council Areas in the State are presently undergoing Structured Training exercise in all the five divisions namely: Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos and Epe.
Ogunmola made this known on Monday during an inspection tour by top officials of the Commission to some of the centres where the Structured Training is holding across the State.
She expressed the hope that the Structured Training which is a new initiative by the State government will raise the bar of professionalism in the civil service.
While noting that the training exercise was intended to improve staff efficiency and work ideologies, the Permanent Secretary called on the participants to ensure they bring to the table improved skill-sets and work ethics after undergoing the exercise.
“This training being coordinated by Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, PSSDC is already at the verge of becoming policy, which will ultimately make it statutory for all members of staff working with Lagos State Government”, she stated.
Earlier, Commissioner III, representing Epe Division at the Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Waheed Garbadeen, applauded the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, for ensuring that civil servants are properly equipped with requisite knowledge and training programmes.
