4 Air Force Officers, 7 Others Paraded For Robbery

Four newly recruited Air Force officers were on Monday paraded by the police over their alleged involvement in conspiracy and robbery in Lagos State.

The officers are ACM Akingbola Wole, ACP Ugbong Abel, ACM Alalifu George and ACM Gums Revelation.

The civilians involved in the operation were the staff of Lagos Water Corporation, Olayiwola Oyedele, Okechukwu Alozie, Wale Lawal, Babatunde Samson, Ismali Adejare, Iliasu Ibrahim and Ikechukwu Ezemba.

The suspects were among the 17 suspected criminals paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohinmi Edgal.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the officers who got engaged three months ago without receiving any salary yet, got involved after they were offered a paltry sum of N20,000 by a staff of Lagos Water Corporation to assist them to loot and cart away the Corporation’s pipes packed at their office at Doyin area in Orile, Lagos.

The staff, Oyedele reportedly arranged with a businessman,  one Okechukwu Alozie to buy those pipes as scraps at give away price of N600.000.

Alozie advanced payment of N200,000 and used part of the money to hire crane truck while the Air force officers allegedly aided them to cart the items away.

The police boss said the police got intelligence report of their activity and officers of SARS who were deployed rounded them up and arrested them while other suspects escaped.

CP Edgal said that the officers will be handed over to the Air Force authority and will wait for the outcome of their finding but the other five suspects will be charged to court.

Also paraded were suspected car syndicate who specialised in snatching, buying stolen vehicles and moving them to the eastern part of the country.

Three fake native doctors were also arrested and paraded with other criminals for various crimes.

Edgal said that the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
