Police detectives from the Lagos State Command may have started getting rid of criminal elements parading themselves as traders but specialized in buying and selling stolen mobile phones at the ICT hub, Computer Village, Ikeja area of Lagos.
Recently, the Police operatives arrested four suspects, who specialized in buying and selling stolen mobile phones at Computer Village and recovered some phones, which had been kept as exhibits under Police custody.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the suspects, namely Razaq Akani, 28, Ibrahim Yusuf, 41, Agada Asowe, 34 and Rasheed Garba, , were caught with assorted mobile phones believed to have stolen from their owners and wanted to sell it at the Computer Village.
During interrogation, the Police at Area F Command discovered the phones were stolen.
The suspects were then charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a short adjournment for hearing to enable the Police to prove that the defendants actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J. A. Adegun, granted them bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum and ordered their remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
