Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested four suspects for allegedly entering Elizade Nigeria Limited and carting away building materials worth over N5m before they escaped.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 12th August, 2024, at the company’s premises located at Plot 23, Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja area of Lagos.
The suspects, Kabiru Lawal, 38, Ibrahim Jega, 34, Godwin Mendie,55 and Tunde Kolawole, 29, have been charged for the alleged conspiracy and stealing.
According to the Police, the suspects were arrested after they arranged a vehicle and carted away iron rods worth the said amount of money meant for construction works at the company’s premises.
However, the matter got exposed when the management discovered that the items were missing and reported to the Police at MAN Center Division. The operatives moved into action, arrested the suspects and detained them at the station for interrogation over the missing items.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Evelyn, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.A. Adegbaye, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 26th September, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
