The wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari has sympathised with the parents of the eight-month old baby allegedly raped in Kano.
Visibly upset Mrs Buhari, who visited the toddler currently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, called on parents to be more vigilant of people around their children.
In his response, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Aminu Zakari, assured the wife of the President of the hospital’s readiness to provide best medical care for the victim.
Earlier, Mrs Buhari was at the graduation and certificate presentation to 1000 women who received skills training from her Future Assured Programme in Kano.
At the graduation, she called on leaders, both political and corporate, to assist women with startup funds, so that they can engage in income generating activities.
According to her, women should engage in income generating activities, so that they can live, more productive lives.
She reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women
Mrs Buhari later went round with members of her entourage to inspect the finished products of the graduands.
4,000 Mama kits were also distributed to promote safe motherhood to expectant mothers and 3,000 school bags given to secondary school girls to encourage female education in the state.
Mrs. Buhari was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wives of the governors of Kogi, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Jigawa and Zamfara States, as well as some of her associates.
