71sf Birthday: Orashi National Congress Celebrates Senator Wilson Ake, Describes Him As True Icon Of Orashi

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, has felicitated with Distinguished Senator Wilson Asinobi Ake as he marks his 71st birthday anniversary today, September 21, 2026.

 

In a press statement signed by its President-General, Ambassador Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, the apex socio-cultural organization in the Orashi region described Senator Ake as a true icon, a statesman and a towering figure whose contributions to Orashi and Rivers State remain evergreen.

Ambassador Ibe said at 71, Senator Ake remains a visionary leader, a strict disciplinarian and a tireless advocate for the development, unity and progress of the Orashi people.

He recalled Senator Ake’s impactful legislative career from the House of Representatives to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2007 and 2015, noting that his footprints continue to inspire the younger generation.

Speaking in his personal capacity, the ONC President-General described the celebrant as a father, mentor and trailblazer who gave him his first major political opportunity when he appointed him as his Assistant while serving in the Senate.

“For me personally, you remain a father, a mentor and a trailblazer. You gave me my first major political opportunity when you appointed me as your Assistant while you served in the Senate – a gesture that speaks volumes of your inclusive leadership and your genuine commitment to youth empowerment. I will forever remain grateful,” Ibe said.

He also lauded Senator Ake’s relentless advocacy for the creation of Orashi State as a vehicle for equity, justice and accelerated development in the Niger Delta, expressing optimism that history will vindicate the cause.

“It is our prayer in ONC that God in His infinite mercy will grant you long life to witness the actualization of Orashi State,” he added.

The ONC President-General, on behalf of the leadership and entire members of the Congress, thanked God for Senator Ake’s life of service, intellect, compassion and uncommon courage, stressing that the Orashi Nation remains proud of him.

He prayed for many more years in excellent health, wisdom and peace for the former lawmaker to continue to offer fatherly guidance to the Orashi people.
