8 Suspected Sex Workers Arrested For Constituting Nuisance In Public Over Clients

Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested eight ladies for allegedly constituting nuisance in the public by way of prostitution and soliciting for clients on the road.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the ladies included Ayomide Adebakin,24, Ganiyat Busari,24, Muyibat Olabede,24, Opeyemi Isiaka,24, Abolorin Eniola, 24, Ayomide Johnson,24, Itinu Obemu,22 and Joy Okafor, 36.

 

They were arrested on the 12th September, 2025, at Jakande Estate area Ejigbo following complainant by the residents over their conduct and suspicion of their engagement in prostitution in the area.

Upon their arrest, they were detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct. They denied being into prostitution but were unable to explain their means of livelihood and why they were constituting nuisance in the area as alleged by the residents.

 

The Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal law of the State which attracts imprisonment.

 

The charge read:

“That you, Ayomide Adebakin, Ganiyat Busari, Muyiha Olabede, Opeyemi Isiaka, Abolorin Eniola, Ayomide Johnson, Itinu Obemu and Joy Okafor on the 12th day of September. 2025, at about 0210hrs, at Jakande area in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by causing nuisance in a public place and have no means of living and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, they pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
