The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on Wednesday, 1st June, 2022, called on officers to exhibit a higher level of loyalty, courage, incorruptible disposition, and professional competence in the discharge of policing services. The IGP made the call during the decoration of nine (9) newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and twenty-three (23) newly promoted Commissioners of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. The decoration marked the first phase in the decoration exercise of a total of fourteen thousand, three hundred and seven (14,307) Senior Police Officers recently approved by the Police Service Commission following their recommendation by the IGP.

The IGP noted that since his appointment as the 21st Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, strategic and effective partnership with the Police Service Commission has been at the fore of his administration. The IGP, while emphasizing that a total of thirty-four thousand, nine hundred and seventeen (34,917) police personnel across all ranks have been promoted, further charged the promoted officers to deploy their wealth of experience towards supporting the Force leadership in addressing current and evolving internal security challenges.

The IGP appreciated His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR for his firm commitment to championing the Nigeria Police Reform Agenda. He thanked the Police Service Commission for supporting and aiding the new human capacity development of the Force and equally appreciated the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, the Senate and House Committees on Police Affairs, for their support of the police modernization, re-orientation and re-equipment drive.
