A man, Dare Adeogun has landed in prison after he allegedly stole a cooking pot and food items.
He was escaping with his ‘loot’ before he was arrested at a bus stop in Lagos.
The incident happened at a BRT bus stop in Igando, a suburb of Lagos where Adeogun was apprehended by the police at Igando division.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that items recovered from him were a small pot, a tin of tomato, some quantity of beans and rice, cooking spoon and other condiments.
It was alleged that Adeogun went to the compound where the owner resides and stole the items and was escaping before he was apprehended.
Our correspondent gathered when Adeogun was accosted by the police team patrolling in the area, he confessed that he actually stole those items from the unidentified owner.
He also admitted that he had no money to buy food, and so decided to steal the items and was going home to cook it before he was accosted by the police.
He was taken to the Station from there, and thereafter he was charged before Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo with possession of the items suspected to be stolen.
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. N. Simon asked the court for short adjournment to present facts of the matter for the court to sentence him accordingly.
The court ordered Adeogun to be remanded in prison custody pending when the prosecutor will present the facts and he will be jailed.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola adjourned the matter for fact and sentence.
