SULAIMAN ALEDEH

It is with a heavy heart and a shattered spirit that I write these words. The news of the passing of Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah in Borno State is not just a national tragedy; for me, it is the loss of a brother, a confidant, and a remarkably fine officer.

Our journey began in 2015, amidst the historic handover ceremony from President Jonathan to President Buhari. From that very first meeting, I saw in him a man of immense integrity and a soul defined by a deep love for this country.

Oseni was a truly detribalised Nigerian. Though he hailed from our home in Edo State, he possessed a spirit that transcended borders; he saw every part of Nigeria as his home and every Nigerian as his kin. He was a man of the people, whose loyalty was to the flag and the peace of our nation.

To many, his towering height and calm composure were his most striking features—they were a constant source of reassurance to anyone who had the honour of meeting him. When Oseni was in the room, you felt a sense of security and stability. He was more than his rank; he was a man of immense courage who led from the front, yet possessed a warmth that felt like home.

To lose him to the very soil he fought so gallantly to protect is a debt we can never fully repay.

Rest in power, my brother. You served with honour, you lived with purpose, and you left behind a void that no salute can ever fill.

Your sacrifice will never be forgotten, and your friendship will remain one of the greatest honours of my life.
Adieu, General.
