Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, on Friday received over 5000 defecting members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the immediate constituency of the serving Deputy Governor.
The people of Nkporo, the home town of the Deputy Governor, spoke in a unanimous voice as came out in their thousands to denounce the failed PDP government in Abia State. They came dancing at the appearance of Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, the governorship candidate of the APC who has been described by many in the state as a moving train.
The caliber of defecting members was such that the entire People’s Democratic Party leadership in Abia State has been thrown into confusion. Leading other defectors is the former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aruwa Arinsi. Others are; Hon Awgu Agwu, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State and Hon Ndukwu Orji, the brother of the serving Deputy Governor.
This is Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah’s first major outing since he was nominated as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State. Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah is yet to begin his campaigns in accordance with the electoral law but millions of Abia people are already joining the APC in their determination to support him to victory. There are hundreds of leaders from across many political parties in Abia State who have concluded plans for their grand defection to the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, as they are all determined to work with Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah to transform the state.
