The Chief Of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Okey Ahaiwe, has emerged as the Gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the March 11 Governorship election in the state.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ahaiwe polled a total of 469 votes to defeat the four other aspirants in a keenly contested election held at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the state capital.
The other aspirants defeated were the deputy governor of the state, Udo Chukwu, Lucky Igbokwe, Emma Nwaka and Sampson Orji.
A total number of 516 votes were cast during the exercise with 12 votes declared invalid.
A former Commissioner for Works, Bob Ogu, businessman, Eric Opia and the female candidate had earlier stepped down for Ahaiwe.
The Chairman of the Abia PDP Special Convention and Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, announced the results.
